
The International Junior Science Olympiad (IJSO) is an annual individual and team competition in the natural sciences for fifteen -year-old students. IJSO is one of the events that will be featured at the CGS-National Science Odyssey. The aims are
- To stimulate the active interest of students in the natural sciences.
- To promote their career as scientists.
- To enhance and develop international contacts in the natural sciences.
- To promote future scientific collaboration.
- To encourage the formation of friendships within the scientific community.
- To offer the opportunity to compare the syllabi and educational trends in science education within the participating countries.
Nigeria has been participating since 2004 but our best performance was in 7th IJSO which was hosted in Abuja, Nigeria. Nigeria won One Gold, One Silver and Five Bronze medals. IJSO is one of the contests that will feature during the 2012 CGS-Nigeria Science Odyssey
- Only SS1 and SS2 students can participate,
- Participating students must not be born before January 1, 1997
How to participate
- Schools will be expected to purchase the Battle of The Brains Registration Pack online or from the State IJSO Coordinator
- On designated dates, schools can download the question for the school level question and submit result to the State IJSO Coordinator or online.
- The Best students from each school will be invited to the State Finals
- Best Students from each state will progress to represent the State at the CGS-National Science Odyssey
